"I've always been interested in representation. I rarely saw Black women depicted with the complexity, beauty, and imagination I knew existed in my own community. My work became a way to celebrate those stories while exploring identity, memory, and cultural inheritance through collage and portraiture."
K. Nicole creates vibrant mixed-media portraits exploring Black feminine identity, beauty and visibility. Through fashion, pattern, and mixed media collage she presents Black women as joyful, imaginative and self-defined. Her figures celebrate personal style while also considering how Black women see themselves and how they are seen by the world. Moving between everyday glamour and deeper cultural, historical and spiritual narratives, her work expands the visual possibilities of Black womanhood.

"I am a black woman. Don't look beyond me. Don't see through me. Look me in the eye. Hold my gaze. Listen to my heart. See my soul. See me for who I am"
